WESTERN IRISH SETTER CLUB, INC.

The Western Irish Setter Club is a non for profit organization based in the Chicago area with a membership of Irish Setter fanciers that extends across the country.

This group is dedicated to protect and advance the interests of the breed. Two specialty shows with sweepstakes competition and obedience trials and two field trials are held yearly. An annual puppy match is also a part of the schedule. Several fund-raisers are held yearly to benefit health research and humane efforts.

The Western Irish Setter Club is proud of its strong rescue and adoption program for homeless and abandoned setters. Dogs are usually available from W.I.S.C. or other local Irish Setter clubs.

Members of the Western Irish Setter Club are devoted to their chosen breed and have helped sponsor several research projects for the betterment of canine health. Substantial contributions to PRA research (a type of genetic blindness) and to Purdue University's Bloat Research Project have been made.

The Western Irish Setter Club was the local host club for the 2010 Irish Setter Club of America National Specialty which was held at the Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, WI June 6 - 12, 2010. The Western Irish Setter Club was proud to be the host of the 2008 Irish Setter Club of America National Hunt Test and Walking Field Trial - November 15 &16 at the Ottawa Field Trial Grounds in Eagle, WI & Field Handling Seminar on Nov. 14th.
